We’re seeking individuals willing to make a 1 – 3 year commitment to serve on the Board of Directors. Pacific Bamboo Resources (PBR) is a dynamic non-profit 501(C)(3) organization that partners with agencies, organizations, and communities on international and domestic bamboo cultivation and usage via related social, economic, and ecological sustainability programs. Our work together is exciting, unique, and meaningful.

As ambassadors of PBR, with strategic planning, fundraising, and fiscal oversight responsibilities, candidates should be passionate about our mission, collaborative in our work, demonstrably reliable, and results-oriented.

PBR interdisciplinary internships and related evaluation processes can meet college/university degree completion expectations. Students often engage with PBR projects and research at a distance, using internet communications to join and contribute activities remotely.

Over the years, PBR has hosted student interns from many colleges and universities from across the United States and internationally, such as the University of Washington, CalPoly, University of Arizona, and many others. Each of our internships offers valuable interdisciplinary experience in a supportive and motivating teamwork environment.

What We Offer:

  • Regional, national, and international opportunities involving bamboo resources and related sustainable community and economic development
  • Apply your knowledge and skills, academic studies, and general interests in new ways
  • Assume a flexible schedule that includes regular internet communications, face-to-face meetings, and opportunities to represent PBR at local events
  • Assist with on-going web site content development, new research projects, and special reports
  • Help to build regional and international partnerships — share in the design and implementation of collaborative projects

What We Expect:  

  • Interest in learning about bamboo resources and relevant social, economic, and environmental trends
  • Interest in digital media production, videography, graphic design arts, and use of social media networks
  • The time and energy to add to a fun, collaborative, talented team (typically between 3 to 6 hours per week)
  • Strong interests in themes of community engagement, international social work, sustainability, wildlife and habitat conservation, climate change, collaborative leadership, etc.
  • Access to a computer and internet connection, and knowledge of various office software programs
  • Writing and public communication skills
  • Interest in and willingness to travel and assist with logistical planning as needed
  • Experience in grant research and proposal writing a plus
  • A sense of humor and who seek fun and meaningful collaboration — we work for and with each other!
